Biography: Alan is a past Vice-President and past Treasurer of the TWNC and WGNC. He and his children live near the Raleigh-Durham Airport. He is a full time woodturner-woodworker specializing in custom furniture and architectural wood turning. He also has a line of gift items that he sells at local craft shows. He recently completed a new studio,where he plans to teach a few lucky students in small workshops for a modest fee. He will soon be teaching woodturning classes at the Woodcraft store in Raleigh and at the Woodworkers store on Capital blvd. Alan has demonstrated for the following organizations: American Association of Woodturners at the Charlotte Symposium in 2000, The Carolina Woodturning Symposium in 1999,The Downeast Woodturners, The Triangle Woodturners, The Triangle Woodworkers, The Woodcraft Store, The Cary High School Woodshop Class and at various local craft festivals. He will be teaching a beginner workshop this April 25 through mAY 1, 2004. He will be teaching a similar workshop at Cambell folk School in April 2005. He will also be demonstrating at Th AAW Symposium in Orlando, Fla. July 23 to July 25, 2004His work can be seen on a regular basis at The Carrboro Sunday Market in Carrboro, NC on the second and fourth Sunday of the month from 1 to 5 PM at the Carrboro Town Commons at the corner of Main St and Weaver St in Carrboro.
